Original albumen stereoview titled “Portal der Brücke in Cöln.” The photograph shows the monumental towers and entrance portal of the suspension bridge crossing the Rhine in Cologne, Germany. The tracks and wooden deck of the railway approach lead directly to the twin fortified towers, which are decorated with shields and crowned by battlements. A statue of an equestrian figure stands prominently on a pedestal between the towers. The card is part of the series “Der Rhein & Seine Umgebungen” published by Anselm Schmitz of Cologne.
