Original albumen stereoview showing the immense Gothic façade of Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) rising above the densely packed rooftops of the city. The view highlights the elaborate tracery, flying buttresses, and soaring spires of one of Europe’s greatest medieval cathedrals, which was still under construction in the 19th century. Fine detail is visible in the masonry and window work. Photographer Gebr. Schönscheidt. The reverse bears a handwritten caption identifying the location as “Cöln der Dom.”
