Description:
19th-century stereoview depicting the steep cliffs and upper plateau of Helgoland, viewed from the northwest. The image shows the dramatic rock face with visible sea caves along the waterline and the buildings of the settlement on the plateau above, including a church and lighthouse. The caption “8. Grotten und Oberland.” is printed below the image, and the mount is labeled “Helgoland.” along both sides. The reverse bears a descriptive label in Dutch explaining the location, issued by Uitgave Merkelbach & Co., Amsterdam.
