Description:
19th-century stereoview depicting a bird’s eye view of Helgoland, seen from the south. The image shows the island’s steep cliffs rising from the sea, with the settlement spread across the plateau (Oberland) and the lower area along the shoreline (Unterland). Numerous boats are anchored in the water at the landing place on the right. The mount is labeled “Helgoland.” along both sides, and the caption “1. Vogelschau” is printed below the image. The reverse bears a descriptive label in Dutch explaining the geography and landmarks, issued by Uitgave Merkelbach & Co., Amsterdam.
