The image captures the clustered whitewashed buildings, church spires, and riverside mills below the terraced hillsides of the Altmühl valley. A walled path in the foreground leads the viewer’s eye into the townscape. The handwritten caption on the reverse reads “431. Danube Kelheim.” A scarce and early photographic record of this historic river port, gateway to the Danube Gorge.
