Stereoview of Geneva, Rue de la Carraterie, William England, circa 1867
A street scene in Geneva showing the Rue de la Carraterie lined with tall stone buildings featuring arcaded ground-floor shopfronts with awnings. Pedestrians, including women in long skirts and men in hats, walk along the cobbled street and adjacent sidewalk, while a horse-drawn cart stands at curbside; tram rails run down the center of the roadway toward a distant vanishing point shaded by a large tree.
The mount's printed caption identifies the publisher as W. England, active under the series title 'Views of Switzerland, Savoy, and Italy,' with the specific view numbered 610 and captioned 'Rue de la Carraterie à Genève.' The bilingual arched-format mount and typography are consistent with England's known production standards for this series.
