Stereoview of West Point, Cadet Barracks, E. & H. T. Anthony & Co., circa 1875
A winter view of the Cadet Barracks at the United States Military Academy, West Point, showing the crenellated stone building with its clock tower seen through a row of bare, snow-lined trees. The foreground is dominated by deep snow cover along a tree-lined walkway, with small figures and a distant white building visible further down the avenue. The stereoview is mounted on a red card with printed lettering reading 'POPULAR SERIES' and 'AMERICAN VIEWS' along the borders.
The verso bears a printed label identifying the image as part of the 'Beauties of the Hudson River' series, number 6811, published by E. & H. T. Anthony & Co. of New York, a firm whose printed labels and red-bordered mounts of this style are consistent with stereoviews issued in the mid-1870s.
