A crowd of spectators, dressed in heavy coats and hats, lines both sides of the snow-packed track to watch a sledder descend a steep curve in front of rustic wooden buildings. The image vividly captures the excitement and social atmosphere of 19th-century winter sports, with men, women, and children gathered to cheer on the competitors. Mounted on a grey flat card, typical of the late 19th century.
